Karen Showalter headshotThis is my 16th year as a school psychologist and my 11th year in Cabarrus County Schools. I am happy to be serving Royal Oaks School of the Arts and Cabarrus Virtual Academy for the 2022-2023 school year. My main professional interest is using data to make good decisions for students and schools through Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). I serve as the MTSS lead school psychologist to support the school psychologist team and coordinate with MTSS leadership to continually improve our MTSS framework in CCS. I also work closely with my schools' MTSS teams, SISP teams, and EC teams to evaluate, plan, create, and monitor supports for students with academic, behavior, and social emotional needs. I'm originally from Pittsburgh, PA, but I've lived in Charlotte long enough that it feels like my second home. I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters (in 6th grade and 3rd grade), especially being outside, going on adventures, and cheering them on in their activities..
